A man in his 60s has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses against elementary school girls in Uppsala. The Uppsala District Court found him guilty on 16 counts involving girls aged 8 to 10 years, with offenses occurring between 2023 and the spring of 2025 at a school where he worked as a resource, janitor, and leisure educator. The convictions include serious sexual assault, several counts of gross sexual harassment, sexual harassment, child pornography possession, and invasive photography.

The case surfaced when several victims bravely reported the abuse to adults at the school, revealing disturbing actions such as inappropriate physical contact during lessons and unauthorized photographing in changing rooms. Police uncovered over 600 child pornography images on the man's devices, further substantiating the claims. Despite his denial, asserting that he believed his behavior was comforting, the court deemed the children's testimonies credible and found no evidence of fabrication.

Since his arrest on May 15, 2025, the accused has been in custody and has been dismissed from his position. He also faces damages payments ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 kronor to the victims. Notably, the man has a lengthy career in education, with allegations extending to prior workplaces.

Judge Nils Pålbrant emphasized the reliability of the victims' statements in the legal proceedings. One victim expressed relief at the verdict, hopeful that the perpetrator will no longer harm children. This conviction highlights the judicial system’s role in addressing and responding to crimes against children in educational settings.
