In the second quarter of 2025, multiple Swedish companies faced increased financial losses driven by weak sales and revenue generation challenges. Scandinavian Real Heart reported an elevated loss of 8.7 million kronor, compared to 6.3 million kronor in Q2 2024. This significant increase stems from an inability to drive sales effectively, demonstrating ongoing difficulties for the company.
Similarly, Prolight, which specializes in developing patient-centric analytical systems, experienced an operating loss of 12.4 million kronor, up from 11.2 million kronor in the previous year. The company's struggle to generate income persists amidst a challenging market landscape.
Opticept disclosed an especially stark performance, with an operating result of -18.6 million kronor, which had nearly doubled from a loss of 9.7 million kronor in the same quarter last year. Their total revenues fell dramatically to 3.2 million kronor from 12.6 million kronor, exemplifying significant operational downturns. Net sales sharply declined to 1.2 million kronor from 4.8 million kronor, while other income dropped from 4.6 million kronor to just 0.1 million kronor, leading to a net result of -19.1 million kronor.
These financial reports come amid broader economic concerns. The Swedish National Institute of Economic Research notes that, while the Barometer indicator of economic sentiment improved slightly to 96.0 in August from 94.3 in July 2025, the overall sentiment remains weak, reflecting persistent challenges within the economy despite some signs of optimism.
