AI Usage in Sweden Surges to Over One-Third of Population in 2025

Swedish AI tool usage jumped from 25% to 37% in 2025, with increased critical verification of information among the population.

    Key details

  • • Over one-third (37%) of Swedes aged 16+ used AI in 2025, up from 25% in 2024.
  • • Men use generative AI more, but women's usage grows faster proportionally.
  • • Largest AI usage increase seen in ages 55-64.
  • • Critical evaluation of information rose from 33% in 2021 to 41% in 2025.
  • • Men verify suspected false information more (45%) than women (36%), both increasing.

A recent survey by Statistics Sweden (SCB) reveals a significant rise in the use of artificial intelligence tools among Swedes aged 16 and older in 2025. Over 37% of this demographic have used AI, marking a substantial increase from 25% in 2024—a near 48% growth in just one year. Men continue to be slightly more inclined to use generative AI than women, but the proportional increase among women is notably larger. Age-wise, the most remarkable growth occurs in the 55 to 64 age group, indicating widespread adoption across different segments of the population.

Alongside the upsurge in AI usage, Swedes are increasingly exercising critical evaluation of information sources. The proportion of people who have checked information they suspected to be false or questionable rose from 33% in 2021 to 41% in 2025. Men remain slightly more proactive in verifying information, with 45% engaging in this behavior compared to 36% of women, though both genders show a clear upward trend in information scrutiny.

These findings highlight not only the growing integration of AI tools in everyday life in Sweden but also an enhanced societal awareness regarding information credibility. This dual trend suggests a population adapting to rapid technological changes with a more cautious approach to information consumption.
