The Swedish junior national hockey team, Juniorkronorna, has officially been named for the upcoming five-nation preparatory tournament ahead of the 2026 World Junior Championship (JVM). Head coach Magnus Hävelid announced the roster, which includes 24 players set to compete in Piestany, Slovakia, from November 3 to 8. This tournament will serve as an essential test of the squad's cohesion and performance against top international competition before the JVM, which is scheduled to take place in Minneapolis and Saint Paul from December 26 to January 5.

Among the selected players, goalkeepers Herman Liv and Love Härenstam have drawn particular attention. Both have showcased excellent form in Hockeyallsvenskan, with Liv playing for Almtuna and Härenstam for Södertälje. Herman Liv is notably the son of the late legendary goalie Stefan Liv, while Love Härenstam is the son of SVT commentator Chris Härenstam, who humorously might have a unique perspective on the games due to his commentary role. The squad also features four players from Djurgården and includes debutants William Håkansson and Casper Juustovaara Karlsson from Luleå.

Coach Hävelid expressed optimism about the ongoing development of Swedish hockey talent, highlighting the emergence of skilled players poised to represent Sweden at this high level. He views the upcoming tournament in Slovakia as a vital opportunity to refine team tactics and assess player combinations before finalizing the roster for the main tournament in the U.S. Additionally, players currently competing in North America, such as Sascha Boumedienne and Alexander Zetterberg, are under consideration for the final JVM squad.

This preparatory phase means the selected SHL players will miss approximately seven club games, underscoring the importance the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation places on the World Junior Championship as a developmental priority and national sporting focus. The selected roster and forthcoming tournaments mark a crucial stage in Swedish junior hockey's ongoing pursuit of international success and talent cultivation.
