Sweden is solidifying its position as a leader in sustainable logistics and transport through ongoing infrastructure projects, certification initiatives, and strategic real estate developments. Frode Laursen, a Nordic logistics company, is constructing its fifth logistics center in Östra Ljungby near Helsingborg, expected to be completed in 2026. This facility will be BREEAM-certified and aligned with the company’s Green Warehouse Vision, featuring sustainable design elements such as recycled steel construction, rainwater reuse, and advanced energy management technology. Demonstrating a strong commitment to eco-friendly operations, 39% of Frode Laursen’s transports in 2024 utilized alternative fuels like HVO and biodiesel, with the adoption of double trailers reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 46% per pallet. CEO Thomas Corneliussen highlighted that Swedish customers increasingly evaluate suppliers based on climate impact, alongside price and quality, strengthening the company’s competitive edge in the Nordic market (ID: 133555).

Complementing infrastructure efforts, the Fair Transport certification promotes sustainable practices across the Swedish road freight sector. Led by Maria Werpers Dahl, the certification encompasses criteria for environmental goals, traffic safety, and fair working conditions, enforced through independent third-party audits. Currently, nearly 1,000 Swedish companies hold Fair Transport certification, reflecting an industry-wide commitment to sustainability. Younger drivers are notably motivated by environmental concerns, and increasing demands from public and private buyers are driving higher standards. Patrik Sandström from Umeå municipality praised the integration of Fair Transport criteria in procurement to ensure accountability and foster innovation, crucial to meeting Sweden’s climate goals by 2045 (ID: 133552).

Real estate firm Mileway is also contributing to greener logistics by providing strategically located properties that support last mile delivery efficiency and sustainability. Their facilities incorporate energy-efficient LED lighting, solar power, electric vehicle charging stations, and customized logistic spaces to accelerate growth and reduce environmental footprints. Malmö-based Cargobike of Sweden relocated to a Mileway property to expand production and maintain proximity to consumers, underpinning its growth within Sweden and Denmark and plans for wider European expansion. Jacob Goldmann, Mileway’s Country Director in Sweden, emphasized that location near urban centers offers companies a lasting competitive and sustainability advantage (ID: 133619).
