Suspect with Swedish Ties Identified in Anne-Elisabeth Hagen Disappearance Case

A significant development has emerged in the high-profile disappearance case of Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, the wife of billionaire Tom Hagen, who vanished from Lørenskog, Norway in October 2018. Authorities have identified a new suspect, a Norwegian man in his 50s with connections to Sweden, who was present in the vicinity at the time of the disappearance.

According to Magnus Braaten, a crime reporter for Norwegian TV2, the suspect recently relocated from a western Swedish city to Lørenskog and has a criminal record, including economic offenses. Police have long monitored this individual and have now seized items related to him, prompting his official designation as a suspect. However, lead investigator Guro Holm Hansen noted that there are currently no plans for further immediate legal actions beyond the seizure.

The investigation remains complex, with the case treated as a murder inquiry due to ransom demands made in cryptocurrency, although Anne-Elisabeth Hagen has not been found to date. Victoria Holmen, the defense attorney for the suspect, emphasized that the allegations are primarily based on the suspect’s presence in Lørenskog on the day of Anne-Elisabeth’s disappearance.

Tom Hagen, initially a suspect given his close relationship to the victim, has since been formally cleared of suspicion.

This new focus on a suspect with scrutiny of his movements and criminal background marks a significant shift in the ongoing probe. Authorities continue to work quietly with the family and explore all avenues in seeking resolution to one of Norway’s most mysterious and enduring missing person cases.
