Katrineholm municipality projects a year-end surplus of 84.2 million kronor, which exceeds the budget by nearly 25 million kronor. The municipal council emphasized that all committees are either within budget or showing positive results, with the social services committee successfully balancing its budget after previous financial challenges. According to Johan Söderberg, chairman of the municipal council, this positive financial outlook demonstrates stable economy, efficient operations, and good development prospects. The municipality also forecasts that about 82% of the 143 million kronor investment budget will be spent by year-end, supporting long-term projects in schools, infrastructure, and care facilities.

Meanwhile, Region Västernorrland reports a profit of 160 million kronor as of August, surpassing budget expectations by 324 million kronor and improving by 825 million kronor compared to the previous year. However, a full-year forecast anticipates a negative result of -209 million kronor, although this would still be 177 million kronor better than budgeted. The region's payment readiness remains well above the minimum level of 350 million kronor. Economic Director Dick Rytterdahl highlighted the region’s cautious economic outlook amid global turbulence but noted effective cost-cutting measures that have reduced non-essential expenses by nearly 50 million kronor. The region also received a 186 million kronor government grant aimed at reducing waiting times in specialized healthcare. The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) called for less government oversight to ease administrative burdens and better support healthcare restructuring amidst demographic pressures.
