Severe Child Abuse and Legal Proceedings Highlighted in Two Cases Across Sweden

Two serious child abuse cases have recently emerged in Sweden, drawing significant legal attention. In the first case, a couple faces charges of particularly aggravated assault after inflicting three deep wounds on their seven-year-old daughter's genital area, seriously endangering her life. The incident reportedly took place on a mattress inside a mosque, prompting a police investigation into whether it involved female genital mutilation (FGM), although the official charges do not include FGM. In a separate case involving digital abuse, a 15-year-old boy has been convicted of possessing child pornography for downloading an explicit image on Snapchat depicting a naked girl in puberty posing sexually. Despite the conviction handed down by Ystads tingsrätt, the boy maintains his innocence, claiming he downloaded multiple images without actually viewing them. He was sentenced to pay daily fines as a result.
