On Saturday evening, several youths in Stockholm's suburbs of Nacka and Tyresö were hospitalized after consuming alcohol suspected to be counterfeit and contaminated with toxic isopropanol. Police are investigating these poisoning incidents, which follow a recent case in Vallentuna where youths were also poisoned after drinking isopropanol-laced spirits obtained from a so-called "vodka car" connected via Snapchat. At least six youths fell ill across these related incidents, with four youths hospitalized from one incident alone. The Stockholm police, represented by spokesperson Ola Österling, are probing the connections between the cases to understand the circumstances. The Swedish Poison Information Centre warns that isopropanol, commonly used as an electronic cleaner, is particularly dangerous for children, causing symptoms such as intoxication, low blood pressure, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Authorities continue to urge caution against consuming unverified alcoholic beverages amid these ongoing investigations.
