Scandinavian Governments Face Calls for Independent Investigations into Epstein Connections

Political and security concerns are mounting in Scandinavia over potential connections between regional figures and the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In Norway, the security police (PST) have launched an investigation to examine potential corruption linked to Epstein's contacts with Crown Princess Mette-Marit and other Norwegian politicians. PST chief Beate Gangås confirmed the probe aims to identify relevant information within PST's jurisdiction. New documents reveal that Mette-Marit stayed for several days at Epstein's Palm Beach residence accompanied by her bodyguards. However, PST officials clarified that their agents are responsible only for physical security and do not advise or direct the travel or meetings of the individuals they protect.

Across the border in Sweden, the Center Party (Centerpartiet) is calling for an independent review of all Swedish connections to the Epstein files. Helena Vilhelmsson, the party's gender equality spokesperson, praised Norway's Prime Minister for proactively initiating a commission, stating, "An independent investigation is required here." She expects Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to respond with similar intent. Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer has indicated that the government does not rule out any measures, leaving open the possibility of future action.

This emerging regional scrutiny comes in the wake of growing public and political demands for transparency regarding any Scandinavian ties to Epstein beyond what is already publicly known. While Norway has formally responded with an official inquiry, Sweden is under pressure to follow suit to thoroughly address and uncover any pertinent information.
