Swedish Fuel Prices Rise Amidst Increasing Oil Costs in August 2026

Several fuel chains in Sweden have increased gasoline and diesel prices following a roughly 2% rise in oil prices on Monday, August 10, 2026. The price of a barrel of North Sea oil (Nordsjöolja) has reached nearly 85 dollars, prompting adjustments at the pump. As a result, gasoline prices have risen by 35 öre per liter, reaching approximately 14.50 kronor per liter for private consumers. Diesel prices have also increased by 20 öre per liter, now costing about 18.70 kronor per liter.

These new prices come in the context of earlier fluctuations: prior to the Middle East conflict starting on February 28, gasoline cost around 15 kronor per liter, while diesel was about 17 kronor per liter. The current pricing also reflects the impact of temporary tax reductions implemented on May 1 and July 1, which have influenced cost structures.

The recent oil price increase is a direct factor leading to the updated fuel prices that Swedish motorists now face. Industry sources highlight that the rising cost of crude oil on international markets immediately affects domestic fuel pricing, underscoring the close link between global energy developments and consumer expenses in Sweden.
