In a significant development for the ski jumping community, Norwegian athletes Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang have accepted a three-month suspension alongside a fine of 2,000 Swiss francs each due to a scandal involving manipulated ski suits during the recent World Ski Championships in Trondheim. The International Ski Federation (FIS) confirmed the penalties, which officially commenced on August 23, 2025.

The scandal erupted when it was revealed that leaders of the Norwegian ski team had manipulated the ski jumpers' suits, prompting FIS to investigate the situation. Both Lindvik and Forfang claimed they were unaware of the changes made to their equipment, a defense that was acknowledged in their accepted settlement, despite FIS holding athletes accountable for their gear. Underlining this responsibility, the athletes recognized they should have questioned the modifications made shortly before competition.

The athletes had previously faced a conditional suspension from March 12 to March 30, 2025, which contributed to the decision that their current suspension period would be reduced by 18 days. Their lawyer, Anne-Lise H. Rolland, expressed that while the duo is disappointed by the ruling, they are eager to move forward and focus on the upcoming sports season.

As a part of the fallout from this incident, Lindvik has lost his silver medal from the World Championships, with the suspension applicable only to FIS events. Norwegian ski team sports director Jan-Erik Aalbu commented on the resolution, expressing relief after months of uncertainty surrounding the incident. Looking ahead to the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Aalbu remains hopeful that this situation will not adversely impact their performance.

Furthermore, FIS has proposed an 18-month suspension for three team officials involved in the suit manipulation, highlighting the serious nature of the incident within the team dynamics. Lindvik and Forfang's acceptance of their repercussions illustrates a significant moment for accountability in competitive sports, especially within the high-stakes environment of ski jumping.
