Authorities are actively pursuing Abdifatah Yahye Omar following his conviction for murder and multiple attempted murders. The 24-year-old has been missing since being sentenced and is now the subject of an international manhunt.

In September 2023, Omar was involved in a deadly shooting in Jordbro, south of Stockholm. He reportedly opened fire on a group of men, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old and the injury of another individual. This incident was part of a series of violent events related to the ongoing Foxtrot conflict, where the police believe Omar targeted specific individuals rather than engaging in random gang violence. Previous to the Jordbro shooting, a separate incident had occurred in Åkersberga, where a 60-year-old man was shot but survived the attack.

Initially, Omar was only convicted of weapons offenses due to insufficient evidence linking him to the murders. However, following an appeal by the prosecution, the court of appeal found him guilty of all charges and sentenced him to life in prison. He had been released on bail during the appeal process and failed to report to Kumla Prison after his conviction. Consequently, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service issued an international alert, fearing that Omar might evade his sentence.
