According to the latest figures from Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB), approximately 7.8 million Swedish citizens will be eligible to vote, marking an increase of 190,000 voters compared to the 2022 elections.
A notable demographic shift is observed with 29% of these eligible voters projected to be aged 65 and older, largely consisting of women. This demographic trend is particularly pronounced in municipalities such as Borgholm and Övertorneå, where the highest percentages of elderly voters reside. In terms of youth participation, over half of first-time voters aged 18-21 are male, with a significant concentration found in metropolitan areas surrounding Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö.
Additionally, foreign citizens will have the opportunity to participate, particularly in municipal and regional elections, which accounts for an estimated 590,000 eligible voters.
