The 2025 E-Prize finalists have been announced, showcasing groundbreaking innovations aimed at transforming renewable energy generation and sustainable transport. For the renewable energy category, finalists include Sunsurf, Jordkraft, and Rebaba. Sunsurf has created floating solar panels that optimize energy production on unused water surfaces. Jordkraft is advancing geothermal technology with modular power plants that tap into underground heat to generate electricity, while Rebaba focuses on repurposing used electric vehicle batteries into modular energy storage solutions, enhancing sustainability in energy usage.

In the sustainable transport category, finalists are Vidde Snow Mobility, Zparq, and Cellfion. Vidde Snow Mobility introduces electric snowmobiles that significantly cut down emissions and noise pollution compared to their fossil-fueled counterparts, with a design promoting circular use for parts. Zparq is innovating with compact electric motors for recreational boats, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions associated with traditional engines. Cellfion has developed PFAS-free membranes for hydrogen production, marrying eco-friendliness with cost-effectiveness. The transport sector, responsible for a third of the EU's CO2 emissions, is highlighted as a crucial area for continued innovation.

Markus Wråke, CEO of Energiforsk and jury member, acknowledged the potential of these technologies, stating that cost and efficiency advancements will be pivotal to innovation in the energy sector. The E-Prize, now in its 17th year, seeks to celebrate and accelerate the efforts of startups dedicated to addressing climate challenges.
