At the Vatten2025 event in Gothenburg, the critical role of digitalization in creating a sustainable and resilient water and wastewater sector was underscored. Schneider Electric showcased cutting-edge technologies, including the Modicon Edge I/O NTS—a new generation I/O device that connects field data with IT and cloud systems, facilitating enhanced digital processes for water and wastewater (VA) operators.

A standout innovation presented was the EcoStruxure™ Water Advisor, software enabling the creation of digital twins of VA operations. By combining real-time data with simulation models, this technology optimizes operations to reduce water losses, improve water quality, and lower energy consumption. An application example is at Tekniska verken in Linköping, where drinking water is supplied continuously to 150,000 residents while managing infrastructure effectively.

Additionally, AVEVA™ SCADA systems were highlighted as scalable solutions for real-time monitoring and management. Daniel Ljungqvist, sales manager at Schneider Electric Sweden, emphasized that one in five liters of water is lost in distribution, making digitalization vital to minimize leaks, modernize infrastructure, and secure sustainable water supply.

These digital solutions represent a significant leap forward in water sector management in Sweden, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability through advanced technology adoption.
