Scandic Hotels Forecasts Price Increase Amid Mixed Q2 2025 Performance

Scandic Hotels plans to raise prices despite a dip in Q2 2025 profits and revenues.

Key Points

  • • Scandic Hotels to increase hotel prices soon.
  • • CEO reports improved booking conditions but lower Q2 profits.
  • • Operating profit fell to 816 million SEK, down from 927 million SEK last year.
  • • Net revenues declined by 1.3% to 5.8 billion SEK, missing expectations.

Scandic Hotels has announced an intention to raise hotel prices in the coming months, emphasizing improved booking conditions compared to the previous year. In its Q2 2025 financial report, CEO Jens Mathiesen highlighted that, despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, the company anticipates a slight increase in both occupancy and prices.

For the second quarter, covering April 1 to June 30, Scandic reported an operating profit of 816 million SEK, a decrease from the 927 million SEK recorded in the same quarter last year. Moreover, net revenues reached 5.8 billion SEK, reflecting a 1.3% decrease compared to the prior year and falling short of market expectations, which were set at 5.88 billion SEK.

Factors affecting these results included the late Easter holiday, which negatively impacted business travel, and high demand driven by significant events such as Taylor Swift's concert in Stockholm and the previous year's Eurovision contest in Malmö, creating challenging comparisons for this period. Additionally, the hotel chain has garnered media attention for its recent policy change, which involves charging separately for breakfast, no longer included in room rates.
