Starting October 29, NU-sjukvården's adult psychiatry department is embarking on Psykiatriturnén, a mental health awareness tour across four locations in the Fyrbodal region. This initiative, funded by the Knowledge Support for Mental Health (KPH) program within Västra Götalandsregionen, aims to increase public knowledge about mental health and psychiatric care. The tour is a collaborative effort involving user associations such as Attention Uddevalla, NSPH, IBIS, and IFS, offering free admission to all interested parties.
Kristina Ehne, section chief of adult psychiatry, highlighted the vital role of patient and family input, noting that collaboration with user organizations significantly enhances service development. The department prioritizes strengthening patient and family influence by involving them in leadership roles, advisory councils, and peer support activities.
At each tour stop, attendees will have opportunities to meet psychiatric staff, engage with representatives from local user associations, and attend lectures, with refreshments provided. This engagement strategy reflects NU-sjukvården's commitment to making psychiatric care more accessible and responsive to community needs, fostering greater understanding and reducing stigma around mental illness in the region.
