Meja Örtengren Secures Spot in 2026 US Open After Qualifier Win

Swedish amateur golfer Meja Örtengren has successfully qualified for the 2026 US Open Golf Championship by winning the qualifier in Corral del Tierra, California. Örtengren finished the qualifier with a score of four under par, recording two consistent rounds of 70. This achievement grants her a place at the prestigious major tournament scheduled from June 4 to 7 at the Riviera Country Club.

Örtengren, 21, hails from Östergötland and is currently ranked fifth in the world amateur golf rankings. She also pursues her studies at Stanford University. Despite her amateur status, she has already made significant strides in professional golf, including a victory at a European Tour event at Hills near Gothenburg last summer.

Earlier this year, Örtengren made her major debut at the British Open but did not advance past the cut. Her qualification for the US Open marks her second major appearance, where she will compete alongside reigning champion Maja Stark. This milestone reflects her rising prominence in the golf world and the strength of emerging Swedish talent.
