Carl Bengtström, a 25-year-old Swedish track athlete, has announced his participation in the upcoming 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, despite facing significant challenges due to a hamstring injury. Bengtström, who had an outstanding 2024 season—winning bronze in the 400m hurdles at the European Championships and setting a new Swedish record—has been sidelined for much of this season due to his injury sustained during the team championships. He missed multiple competitions including the Swedish Championships and the Finnkamp.
However, his recovery has progressed faster than anticipated. "I’m going to the Tokyo World Championships, and it feels really good," Bengtström expressed in an interview, highlighting the surprising speed of his rehabilitation. Along with teammate Oskar Edlund, he has been provisionally selected to represent Sweden, with the final team announcement expected shortly before the championships kick off on September 13.
