Wrestler Nova Bergman Shines in MMA with World Championship Success and Plans to Turn Pro

Nova Bergman, a 23-year-old athlete from Boden, Sweden, is making headlines with her transition from wrestling to mixed martial arts (MMA). Having started wrestling at the age of four and enjoyed a successful career with multiple gold medals in Swedish championships, Bergman recently clinched a silver medal at the World Championships held in São Paulo, Brazil. This remarkable feat has positioned her as a rising star in the MMA scene.

After struggling with a knee injury and a lack of motivation following a disappointing performance at the U23 World Championships in wrestling, Bergman found a renewed passion in MMA thanks to her training with MMA fighter Josefin Knutsson. She made her MMA debut at the Battle of Botnia in June 2024, winning her first fight despite feeling underprepared.

Bergman's rapid ascent in MMA is evident, and she now trains at Northpaw gym in Luleå and Västerås Fight Club, preparing for her future in the sport. With her sights set on a professional debut by the end of 2025, Bergman remarked, "If you are the second best in the world, the natural step is to become a pro," highlighting her ambitious mindset as she navigates this new chapter in her athletic career.
