Coach Jon Dahl Tomasson expressed that Lindelöf is 'very upset' about this situation, stating, "He is very upset and I am very upset, but we cannot do anything about it."

The coach emphasized the challenges of including a player who has not been training regularly with a club, which raises concerns about his performance. Lindelöf, who has been training alone and occasionally with his former teammates, has not been able to engage in proper preseason preparations. Coach Tomasson acknowledged the importance of finding the right environment for Lindelöf to maintain his form, noting, "We had good communication with Victor and would have loved to include him in the squad, but he is not available due to his circumstances."

Sweden's World Cup qualifying campaign is set to begin with a match against Slovenia on September 5. The team retains the option to include players without a club, but there are significant considerations involved, as highlighted by the selection of players like Alexander Isak, who despite a strike at Newcastle, was deemed essential due to his professionalism and match-winning capabilities.
