Swedish hockey fans can now access highlights from the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) matches through new streaming options provided by Viaplay and SVT. On October 15, 2026, viewers in Sweden were able to watch highlight clips of the match between Linköping and Frölunda, as well as several other SHL games played the same day, including Växjö vs. Skellefteå and Timrå vs. HV71. These highlight segments typically last between two to three minutes and are exclusively available to Swedish audiences via SVT's platform.
In parallel, Viaplay has launched a dedicated section on its streaming service offering free sports highlights and analyses without requiring users to create accounts or subscribe. This new initiative targets modern viewing habits, particularly among younger fans who prefer quick access to sports content between live games. Erik Westberg, Viaplay Group's VP Head of Sports & Local Productions in Sweden, said their goal is to provide fans with increased opportunities to engage with sports content through curated highlights from popular leagues including the Premier League, UEFA competitions, Bundesliga, and Formula 1.
Viaplay's free highlights service is advertisement-supported, providing additional venues for brands to reach sports audiences. The content is accessible across devices such as mobile phones and smart TVs through viaplay.se/sportklipp. This move reflects a strategic response to evolving viewer preferences by offering diverse and convenient access to sports highlights.
Together, SVT and Viaplay expand the accessibility of SHL content and other sports highlights, allowing fans to stay updated with key moments from their favorite hockey teams and other top sports competitions without subscription barriers.
