Västra Götalandsregionen Faces Half a Billion Kronor Bill Over Failed Millennium Healthcare System

Västra Götalandsregionen is confronting significant financial repercussions from the failed Millennium healthcare journal system launched in November 2024. The complex and problematic system led to protests from healthcare staff just three days after introduction, compelling the region to suspend the project. Nearly a year of investigations culminated in a decision to permanently discontinue Millennium in February 2026, after costs had ballooned to 3.7 billion kronor.
