Trial in Rättvik Bombing Case Paused for Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation of Suspect

The trial surrounding the bombing incident in Rättvik has been temporarily suspended to allow a forensic psychiatric examination of the 18-year-old suspect involved. Authorities have rescheduled the continuation of the trial for July 17, marking approximately a month-long pause to assess the mental health of the accused.

The prosecutor alleges that the suspect deliberately attempted to commit murder against four individuals present near the bomb. This device, described by prosecutors as live and capable of causing fatalities, was initially placed close to Stiernhööksgymnasiet but was later moved by the suspect to a nearby shed near the church. The suspect, however, denies intending to harm anyone and maintains that the bomb was solely located at the shed and not at the school.

The prosecutor has confirmed that a final sentencing proposal will be tabled when the trial resumes in mid-July. This procedural pause follows the serious nature of the charges involving four counts of attempted murder linked to the bomb discovery.
