Train Traffic Halted Between Laxå and Hallsberg, Disrupting Major Routes

Train traffic on the route between Stockholm and Gothenburg has come to a complete halt due to an accident involving contact line infrastructure between Laxå and Hallsberg. The incident occurred on February 1, 2026, around 16:00, according to the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). SJ personnel arrived at the scene at 16:38 to address the situation, but there is currently no estimate for when services will resume.

This disruption affects several key services including SJ express trains and Tågab-operated lines. For example, SJ Train 440 from Gothenburg to Stockholm, originally scheduled to arrive at 18:46, is now expected at 19:25. Similarly, Tågab Train 7041 from Stockholm to Gothenburg's arrival has been delayed from 19:40 to 21:01.

Additionally, other routes are impacted, notably those connecting Stockholm-Karlstad-Oslo and Stockholm-Västerås-Gothenburg, indicating a wider effect on the Swedish rail network.

The cause of the disruption is linked to an incident with a contact line at a Trafikverket facility, which led to the immediate stoppage of train services to ensure safety.

According to SJ's press office, "There is currently no forecast for when the traffic can be resumed," underscoring the uncertainty passengers face. SJ and other operators continue to work on resolving the issue and restoring normal operations as soon as possible.
