Tragic Murder of 15-Year-Old Aiham Ahmad in Uppsala Hair Salon Shooting

On April 29, 2025, 15-year-old Aiham Ahmad was tragically killed in a devastating shooting at a hair salon in Uppsala. The attack, carried out by a masked assailant who fired multiple shots from two weapons, resulted in three deaths, including Aiham and two other young men aged 16 and 20. The shooting began outside the salon before the attacker entered and opened fire at close range.

Six months after the incident, Aiham’s family gathered to commemorate what would have been his birthday, expressing deep grief and the lasting impact of the murder. His mother, Sanabel, conveyed her heartbreak, stating, "No one should have to die this way," while reflecting on how the family’s life has been irreversibly altered. The family has since moved closer to Aiham’s grave as they try to cope with their loss.

Five suspects have been charged in connection with the murders. Notably, a 21-year-old man is accused of carrying out the shooting for payment, and others are alleged to have aided and abetted the crime. The trial is scheduled to begin on February 18, 2026, with proceedings expected to last until April. Sanabel emphasized that regardless of the legal outcome, their sorrow remains unchanged, asserting, "They have not only killed Aiham, they have killed us too." The family continues to honor Aiham’s memory with photos and mementos, struggling to find normalcy amid profound grief.
