A fire at a senior living facility in Sunne has resulted in the death of a woman who succumbed to her injuries after being transported to Torsby hospital. The incident occurred in the early hours, triggering fire alarms that led to the evacuation of around 90 residents. Chief Physician Stephan Axer confirmed that despite efforts, including collaboration with a burn unit at Akademiska sjukhuset in Uppsala, the woman's injuries were too severe to save her life.

Approximately 40 of the evacuated residents have not been allowed to return to their apartments following the incident. Another person was hospitalized due to the fire but has since been discharged, indicating that while the situation was serious, the majority of residents were ultimately unharmed.
