Tomas Kollar Secures Malmö Redhawks' Future With Contract Extension Until 2029

Tomas Kollar has officially extended his contract as head coach of the Malmö Redhawks through 2029, solidifying his long-term commitment to the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) club. Now in his fifth season leading Malmö, Kollar has propelled the team to notable successes, including reaching the quarterfinals last season after a hard-fought victory over local rivals Rögle in the round of 16. Despite operating with one of the SHL's lowest player budgets, Malmö currently ranks fifth in the league, surprising many fans and pundits alike.

Since retiring as a player in 2014, Kollar has remained deeply involved with Malmö, progressing from coaching roles with the club's junior teams to his current position as head coach since January 2022. Malmö’s sporting director, Oscar Alsenfelt, commended Kollar’s integral role in the team’s growth and expressed satisfaction in retaining him for an additional three years. This season, assistant coaches Jens Nilsson and Bert Robertsson also secured contract extensions, emphasizing staff stability.

In other SHL news, Frederik Dichow departed HV71 for Timrå on a two-year contract, while Färjestad captain Linus Johansson faces a six-week hiatus due to an upper body injury.
