Swedish Women's Ice Hockey Team Advances to Olympic Semifinals for First Time Since 2014

The Swedish women's ice hockey team, Damkronorna, has secured a place in the semifinals of the 2026 Winter Olympics after a decisive 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic. This marks their first semifinal appearance since 2014 and signals a potential return to Olympic medal contention. The quarterfinal match was tightly contested, with Sweden maintaining composure despite several penalties. Veteran player Hanna Olsson scored the first goal during a powerplay in the second period, igniting the team’s momentum. The win was sealed in the final minute by Hilda Svensson, who scored an empty-net goal.
