Swedish Games Dominate Multiplayer Awards at The Game Awards 2025

At The Game Awards 2025, Swedish video game developers achieved remarkable success, particularly in the Best Multiplayer category, where four out of five nominees were Swedish titles. Embark Studios' "Arc Raiders" won the award for Best Multiplayer, with Art Director Robert Sammelin expressing heartfelt gratitude to players for their support. Other Swedish nominees included "Battlefield 6" from Dice, which also took home Best Sound Design, as well as "Peak" and "Split Fiction". Additionally, the Gothenburg-based studio Moonhood received recognition with "The Midnight Walk" winning Best VR/AR Game.

Although no Swedish-developed game was nominated for the prestigious Game of the Year, the event crowned the French debut title "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" as the winner, which swept nine awards overall. Guillaume Broche, CEO of Sandfall Interactive, thanked YouTube tutorial creators for aiding their development process during his acceptance speech.

Johanna Nylander from the Swedish Games Industry praised the quality of Swedish game development, underscoring the country's strong presence at this year’s awards. The ceremony also featured high-profile announcements including two new upcoming Tomb Raider titles planned for release in 2026 and 2027.

This year’s results highlight Sweden’s significant impact on the global gaming industry, especially in multiplayer and immersive VR experiences, reinforcing the country's reputation for innovative game development.
