Swedish-developed Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring Systems (OMS) have reached a significant milestone, now being installed in more than one million vehicles on the roads. These camera-based systems enhance vehicle safety by actively monitoring driver attention and passenger behavior inside the car.

The DMS technology uses real-time camera analysis to track the driver's eye movements, gaze direction, and head position to assess focus on the road. When signs of fatigue or distraction are detected, or if the driver looks away for too long, the system responds by triggering alerts via sound or haptic feedback in the steering wheel to regain driver attention.
