Swedish Democratic Party MP Investigated for Child Pornography Following NCMEC Tip

A Swedish member of parliament from the Sweden Democrats (SD) is currently under investigation for serious child pornography offenses. The inquiry was prompted by a tip from the United States' National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which led Swedish police to conduct a raid at the MP's residence and seize several electronic devices for forensic examination.

According to SVT, the investigation centers on particularly heinous video material involving child exploitation, including possible instances of child penetration. The suspect, who has held several key roles within the SD party, has been suspended and has resigned from all political posts amid the ongoing probe.

The Special Prosecution Chamber, responsible for cases involving public officials, is handling the investigation. Prosecutor Lena Körner confirmed that the MP was questioned and released, but suspicions against the individual remain intact. The offenses are believed to have taken place within Sweden, although the exact locations and timeframes have not been disclosed.

Thus far, the MP has not publicly commented on the allegations beyond a vague inquiry, subsequently ceasing communication. Police continue to analyze the confiscated digital devices to establish evidence regarding the uploading or downloading of illicit material, possibly to cloud storage services, as reported.
