Swedish Companies Face Mixed Q4 2025 Financial Results

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Swedish companies showed varied financial performances with notable declines in some sectors while others posted gains. Viaplay, a streaming service, reported revenues of 4.98 billion kronor, up from 4.83 billion kronor the previous year. Despite this revenue growth, Viaplay faced a loss of 637 million kronor for Q4, significantly worse than the 92 million kronor loss for the same quarter in 2024. This loss was partly due to write-downs on scripted content. CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann acknowledged the company’s stronger competitive position than a year ago but emphasized ongoing challenges in meeting transformation goals. The board also proposed no dividend distribution for 2025.

Meanwhile, Starbreeze, the gaming company, reported an EBITDA loss of 12 million kronor in Q4, a sharp decline from a positive EBITDA of 19.7 million kronor in the same period the prior year, signaling financial pressure.

In contrast, Surgical Science posted an improved operating profit of 40.1 million kronor for the quarter, up from 39.1 million kronor the previous year. The company specializes in virtual reality simulators for medical professionals, continuing its growth trajectory.

These results reflect the broader economic challenges facing some Swedish companies, particularly in entertainment and gaming sectors, while others continue to expand positively within their niches.
