Petersson secured the bronze with a throw of 20.86 meters, later improving to 20.97 meters, proudly maintaining his podium position throughout the competition. Italy's Leonardo Fabbri claimed gold with 22.31 meters, followed by compatriot Zane Weir who took silver. "I feel really good! It was fun out there. Bringing home a medal feels significant," Petersson said, also celebrating alongside his family, emphasizing the importance of their support.

In the discus event, Vanessa Kamga continued to impress by qualifying for the final with a strong throw of 64.65 meters, just shy of her Swedish record of 66.61 meters. Kamga, who has an impressive track record including a fifth-place Olympic finish and several Swedish records, also participated as a summer speaker on Sveriges Radio the same day she qualified. She described her qualifying throw as "a stable throw, right down the middle, just as you want it." Kamga and fellow Swede Caisa-Marie Lindfors, who qualified with 59.57 meters, are set to compete in the finals, with Kamga considered a leading medal candidate.

On a less positive note, Andreas Kramer, who previously won silver in the 800 meters at the EM, ended his campaign earlier than hoped after finishing last in his semifinal heat and missing out on a final spot. SVT sports expert Alhaji Jeng expressed disappointment, remarking, "Clearly, I am disappointed," highlighting the contrast to Kramer's prior successes.
