Sweden National Football Team Prepares with Key Friendlies Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Sweden's national football team is set to finalize their preparations for the 2026 World Cup with crucial pre-tournament friendlies against Norway and Greece. The first match is scheduled for June 1 in Oslo against Norway, followed by a home game against Greece at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on June 4. These matches serve as Sweden's final tests before the World Cup kickoff on June 15 against Tunisia in Monterrey, Mexico.

Stefan Pettersson, head of the Swedish national team, emphasized the importance of concluding the preparation phase on home soil, noting the positive impact of engaging with local supporters and building energy within the team. “It is significant for the team to finish preparations here at home, where we can share this journey with our fans,” Pettersson stated.

Head coach Graham Potter is expected to announce the official World Cup squad on May 12, about one month before Sweden’s group stage opener. Sweden’s group opponents include Tunisia, the Netherlands, and Japan. The warm-up games against Norway and Greece will provide Potter with valuable opportunities to finalize selections and tactics.
