Sweden Finalizes Team for 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan with Key Athletes Selected

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) has announced the selection of athletes representing Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. Among the highlights is figure skater Andreas Nordebäck, who secured Sweden's Olympic quota spot and expressed relief and joy at his selection. Nordebäck has shown strong international progress, including an 11th place finish at the European Championships and ninth at the Finlandia Trophy Grand Prix event. Fredrik Joulamo, SOK's sports director, praised Nordebäck as a promising talent, and Anna Burwall from the Swedish Figure Skating Association emphasized his role as an inspiration for young skaters.

In cross-country skiing, 19-year-old prodigy Alvar Myhlback was officially named to the Olympic team. Team leader Anders Byström highlighted the anticipation for Myhlback's Olympic debut, alongside a strong group including Johanna Hagström, Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist, and others. Norwegian biathlete Anna Magnusson, noted for her impressive early-season form, secured a spot on the biathlon team along with fellow athletes Jesper Nelin and Viktor Brandt. Skicross star Sandra Näslund, returning to form after injuries, also made the roster, expressing satisfaction with her current performance.

Additional athletes include alpine skiers Sara Hector and Anna Swenn Larsson; mogul skiers Walter Wallberg and Filip Gravenfors; biathlon stars Elvira and Hanna Öberg; and curling athletes Niklas Edin and Anna Hasselborg. Ski jumper Frida Westman also stands out on the roster. Collectively, this diverse and talented group highlights Sweden's strong preparations across multiple winter sports disciplines for the Milan Games.
