Sweden Democrats MP Katja Nyberg Under Investigation for Alleged Aggravated DUI and Drug Possession

Katja Nyberg, a member of the Swedish Parliament from the Sweden Democrats (SD) and part of the justice committee, is under investigation for suspicion of aggravated drunk driving and possession of cocaine. The incident occurred on December 28, 2025, when Nyberg was stopped by police in Värmdö, near Stockholm. During a search, authorities reportedly found a bag containing approximately 2 grams of suspected cocaine. Blood samples were taken and her driver’s license was confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation.

Nyberg has denied the allegations, stating she does not recognize the charges against her and explained that she was involved in an accident with wildlife. She emphasized that an alcohol test administered at the time returned a negative result. Prior to her political career, Nyberg served as a police officer.

The case is being managed by a special investigations unit dedicated to handling cases involving parliament members, led by prosecutor Anders Jakobsson.
