Sweden and Ukraine Advance Plans for Jas Gripen Fighter Jet Factory and Aircraft Delivery

Sweden and Ukraine are progressing in their military cooperation with negotiations underway to establish a Jas Gripen fighter jet assembly factory in Ukraine. Ukraine's ambassador to Sweden, Svitlana Zalisjtjuk, confirmed ongoing discussions about Saab possibly setting up a factory in Ukraine dedicated to assembling Swedish-made Jas Gripen jets. Saab's CEO Micael Johansson also noted that the company is exploring partnerships in Ukraine to produce parts for the aircraft.

A significant purchase agreement has been reached in which Ukraine plans to acquire up to 150 Jas Gripen fighter jets from Sweden. The first deliveries of these aircraft are scheduled to begin in approximately three years. However, Ambassador Zalisjtjuk expressed Ukraine's desire to receive the aircraft sooner and highlighted ongoing negotiations regarding other jet aircraft types that could be delivered more quickly.
