Sweden Advances to European Handball Championship Main Round After Convincing Win Over Georgia

The Swedish men's handball team has made a strong start at the 2026 European Men's Handball Championship, securing qualification to the main round after a decisive 38–29 victory over Georgia. Sweden opened the tournament with a 36–31 win against the Netherlands and continued their momentum with the win against Georgia, solidifying their place in the next phase of the competition.

Felix Claar was a key contributor, scoring eight goals against the Netherlands and playing a significant role in establishing control against Georgia following a tactical timeout. Sweden took a commanding 20–15 lead at halftime against Georgia and maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

Despite the victories, Jim Gottfridsson highlighted areas for improvement, noting some sloppiness and emphasizing the need to secure a win against Croatia to carry two points into the main round.
