Among those affected was Veronica Mårtensson, a newly appointed teacher, who was locked in a conference room with students and fellow staff members. Despite the terrifying situation and being unable to contact her partner due to leaving her phone behind, she remained composed to prevent panic among her pupils. Reflecting on her calm response, she credited her quick decision to let students leave early as crucial to their safety.

Ten-year-old student Bianca Vestlund recounted the fear she experienced while sheltering in place, initially unaware of the full danger outside.
