Storm Floris Approaches Sweden: Weather Warnings and Safety Precautions

A significant low-pressure system, Storm Floris, is set to impact Sweden, particularly affecting the west coast with strong winds and potential disruptions. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued yellow weather warnings for large parts of Västra Götaland, particularly in Gothenburg, where wind speeds could reach up to 23 meters per second. This warning is in effect from 08:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday, with the most intense winds expected in the afternoon, particularly in Bohuslän and Gothenburg.

In anticipation of the storm, train services on the Kinnekullebanan have been suspended since midnight, affecting travel between Håkantorp and Gårdsjö. Traffic authorities are advising road users to exercise caution, especially in areas near Vänern and Kinnekulle, to mitigate risks associated with falling trees and branches, which pose a threat to public transport and could cause power outages.
