Signal failures between Gamla Stan and Slussen combined with a vehicle malfunction during the Stockholm Marathon weekend reduced train speeds and caused erratic service. Commuters expressed frustration—Peter Gassner cited difficulties for the elderly, while Linus Söderholm noted the need to allow extra commuting time to avoid lateness.

Opposition leaders Fjellner and Axel Conradi are demanding that Aida Hadzialic, chair of the regional council, publicly address the issues and clarify plans to prevent future breakdowns. Experts have been deployed to tackle ongoing signal problems, but the situation remains unstable, further straining Stockholm’s transport network already endangered by infrastructure funding cuts.
