Stockholm Police Officer Charged With Multiple Sexual Crimes Against Minors via Snapchat

A Stockholm-based police officer in his 30s has been formally charged with numerous sexual offenses against ten boys between the ages of 11 and 14, perpetrated through the social media platform Snapchat. The allegations, brought forward this week, include three counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault, six counts of sexual harassment of children, eight counts of exploiting children for sexual posing, and offenses related to child pornography.

The case emerged after a concerned father reported that his 12-year-old son had been subjected to online sexual abuse. Investigations revealed that the accused officer sent threatening images of weapons to several victims, results which caused the boys to feel coerced into sending explicit images of themselves. One boy expressed fear for his life, stating he thought he would be killed if he did not comply.

Despite the charges, the officer denies all wrongdoing, asserting he has no memory of any contact with minors. He suggests that any minors involved may have misrepresented their ages. While admitting to sending weapon images, he claims these were not intended to intimidate.

The trial began this week and is scheduled to continue until February 10, with the defense maintaining their position of innocence. This case raises significant concerns regarding abuse of power and exploitation within law enforcement circles in Stockholm.
