Stockholm Film Festival Prepares for 35th Sommarbio Season with 'Bad Romance' Theme

The Stockholm Film Festival is gearing up for the 35th edition of its beloved Sommarbio event, scheduled from August 13 to 17, 2025, in Rålambshovsparken. This year's festival, themed 'Bad Romance', delves into the complexities of love with a diverse lineup of films including classics such as 'A Star Is Born', 'Silence of the Lambs', and 'Twilight'. Screenings will begin each evening at 21:00 following lively festivities that start at 17:00, featuring food, music, and community engagement.

Kicking off the festival is the unique Boat-in event on August 8 at Stadshuskajen, where attendees can enjoy a film from boats or paddleboards, featuring the Wes Anderson film 'The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou'. This event aims to celebrate Stockholm's cultural scene with an outdoor cinematic experience on the water, promoting both accessibility and fun.

Both Sommarbio and the Boat-in event will be free to the public, emphasizing the festival's commitment to community involvement. Notably, these events will be powered entirely by renewable energy. Looking ahead, the Stockholm International Film Festival is set to run from November 5 to 16, 2025, promising over 130 premieres from filmmakers around the globe.
