Stockholm Art Week Kicks Off Amidst Celebrated Swedish Artists and Exhibitions

Stockholm Art Week, set to begin on April 20 and run through April 26, 2026, offers an expansive showcase of the city's vibrant art scene, featuring around 150 events across venues such as Djurgården. Founded by Joanna Sundström, the week serves as a significant cultural meeting point attracting artists, curators, collectors, and the public, with highlights including the Market Art Fair and Supermarket Art Fair—both celebrating their 20th anniversaries this year. Market Art Fair debuts at Magasin 9 in Frihamnen, while Supermarket is held in Slakthusområdet. Apart from fairs, the event includes workshops, artist talks, and guided tours at notable institutions like Galleri Magnus Karlsson and Fotografiska. A special collaboration between Porsche Sverige and the festival features an 'art car' by Anders Krisár, who also opens his studio for visits.

In parallel, Sara-Vide Ericson’s solo exhibition 'Subterranean hunger' at the Norrköping Art Museum highlights the evolution of one of Sweden’s prominent contemporary artists over 16 years. The exhibit showcases deeply colored, sculptural paintings that blend personal experiences with natural and memory-infused landscapes. Critic Jesper Strömbäck Eklund praises the emotional and cinematic qualities of Ericson’s work despite critiquing the titles of some pieces. Her monumental painting 'Gravity' encapsulates the unique style where landscapes reflect human interiority.
