Stampen Media has revealed plans to cut 59 jobs, including multiple editorial positions at Göteborgsposten, which represents approximately 12% of its workforce. This decision, disclosed by CEO Johan Hansson, is part of broader cost-saving efforts aimed at reducing expenses by roughly 45 million kronor annually due to a challenging advertising market.

Hansson acknowledged the difficult nature of these layoffs, admitting that they might affect the quality of editorial work produced by the company. The announcement has generated surprise among union members, as a significant layoff of nearly 100 employees occurred just two years earlier. Gabriella Mohoff, chair of Stampen's journalist club, referred to the news as a "blow" for staff, though she noted that the company would provide severance packages for those laid off to help ease the transition. The cuts include 16 roles at Göteborgs-Posten, alongside reductions at other publications, including Hallandsposten. However, Hansson reassured that despite these layoffs, the company does not plan to discontinue any titles.
