Spate of Shootings in Gothenburg’s Hisingen Area Linked to Gang Violence

In a troubling escalation of violence, a man in his 30s was shot dead on Hisingen, Gothenburg, on the evening of September 9, 2025. This shooting is believed to be the latest in a series of incidents linked to ongoing gang conflicts in the Biskopsgården area. The victim was known to law enforcement and had affiliations with criminal networks, heightening concerns over retaliatory violence following a double homicide that occurred earlier this month.

Police received an emergency call around 18:45 alerting them to gunshots in the vicinity of a school, where parents were attending a meeting at the time, raising immediate safety concerns among the community. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the victim fatally shot and established large cordons around the crime scene while interviewing witnesses. The victim has been linked to the ongoing gang tensions between the northern and southern factions of Biskopsgården.

Fredrik Svedemyr, a spokesperson for the West police region, detailed the police's efforts to monitor the area and control access points to Hisingen in order to secure public safety. "The situation is active, and we are currently investigating this as a potential act of revenge related to past shootings," he stated.

Earlier in September, two men were fatally shot while sitting in a parked car in Lunden, an incident that is suspected to be linked to the same gang warfare. Law enforcement arrested a suspect in connection with that double murder in Oslo, further indicating the cross-border dimensions of gang-related violence.
