Significant Rise in Household Economic Confidence in Sweden for July 2025

In July 2025, Swedish households demonstrated a notable increase in economic confidence, according to a report by Konjunkturinstitutet. The household confidence indicator marked its second-largest monthly rise in 29 years, reflecting improved perceptions about the national economy. Despite this surge, overall sentiment among households remains weak, suggesting worries about future economic conditions remain prevalent.

The household confidence indicator increased sharply, but the broader barometer for the economy fell from 94.3 in June to 92.7 in July, indicating ongoing uncertainty in the economic landscape. Within the details, the service sector showed the most significant gains, particularly driven by the hotel and restaurant industries, where the confidence indicator rose by 3.1 points to reach 96.4.

In contrast, both the manufacturing and construction sectors experienced declines in their confidence indicators during the same period. The manufacturing sector reported a weaker mood than usual, while the construction sector continued to reflect a typical climate.
