Severe Rainstorm Hits Denmark, Lighter Showers Forecast for Southern Sweden

A powerful rainstorm originating from the UK is set to impact Denmark and southern Sweden, with Denmark experiencing particularly severe weather conditions. Danish authorities have issued historic red and orange warnings for heavy rainfall and potential flooding, anticipating up to 237 millimeters of rain in some regions. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has already sent warning text messages to over 250,000 residents, advising them to prepare for severe weather, especially in areas like Lolland, Fyn, and Falster where flooding risks are significant.

In contrast, southern Sweden is expected to see lighter rainfall, with forecasts predicting 10 to 15 millimeters, primarily affecting Skåne, Blekinge, and southern Småland. Meteorologist Joséfine Qvarnesjö-Bergstedt noted that winds would be noticeable, but no major storm is expected. Despite the lack of severe rain warnings in Sweden, the weather remains unstable, particularly for the southern regions where thunderstorms are likely.

Adding to the weather alert, a yellow warning for high temperatures has been issued for parts of northern Sweden, where temperatures could reach up to 33 degrees Celsius. This warning is in effect until at least mid-week, affecting areas like Västerbotten and eastern Norrland. With stable conditions anticipated for much of the country, the main concerns lie in the southern regions experiencing potential precipitation and storms.
